Can someone explain to this fossil what Facebook actually achieves?

I see that people "Follow" others.
Mostly they follow Celebrities and whoevers.
Why do people follow Celebrities?
If a Celebrity has 1 million "Friends" what does the follower get out of it?
It is not as if the Celeb knows his followers. It is not as if the Celeb messages his followers as a Friend would do.
I see people sitting in Cafes continually scrolling through endless posts achieving what?
Keeping up with the Kardashians?🤷‍♂️

Problem with trash like Facebook and twitter is that it gives folk with nothing the idea that if they 'follow' somebody they like who IS successful in whatever field, that they get some sort of 'association with success' by doing so.

It's as vacuous as that

I am fascinated when I am on the train and I watch 90% of people endlessly scrolling, stop, read for 5 seconds then continue scrolling.

FB is only useful if you're trying to promote yourself or stay in touch with family and friends. Otherwise, it's a huge waste of time. People follow celebrities because they are obsessed with them.

facebook is for old people to share propaganda with each other

the only reason I even have facebook is because some people prefer talking on messenger. I rarely look at the actual facebook part
