Vagrants a Problem?

Sitting having a morning coffee in a cafe, I watched these two homeless people case my car, then open the door to have a look inside.
I went out to quietly ask them why they are going through an obviously empty car.
One piped up and said we need a lift,
"Well I'm not going anywhere so I can not help you."
The other said, "I only got $2 can you lend me some money"?
"I never carry cash" was my reply.
"So as you can see, there is nothing worth stealing in my car so can I go back to enjoying my coffee?"
They slowly walked away.
You may ask why my car was unlocked? I would rather people freely rifle the car than break the glass to get in.
Nothing of value is left in my car so there is no problem leaving it unlocked.

I didn't know you had a homeless problem Down Under. I thought it was a good decent place full of good people.

@hunkalove The reality is that Australia's homeless problem is growing at an alarming rate.
Neither Political Party wants to address the issue. They would rather waste $50 Billion buying Submarines from France.
The US homeless rate is 17 people per 10,000.
Australia's is 50 people per 10,000

@Gusman Yikes, that sounds high.

@CoffeeFirst It is when one considers Australia is supposed to be "The Lucky Country"
We are a rich nation but if you are down on your luck then too bad. No one is going to look after you.

Nope, always locked with the alarm in secure areas But I have a lot in my truck including live ammo, and a tool box

If it wasn't unlocked they probably wouldn't have gone near it.

@HannahSky In the past, my cars have been broken into at least 8 times over the years, each time the glass was smashed to gain entry. Costing me insurance excess.
I now leave the car empty and unlocked

Interesting story and breakage deterrent.
