To think this was not rude?

Sitter who works for me regularly said she needed to know if she would be needed to work on the 12th November. I said 'Is there a particular reason?' And she looked annoyed and said she just needed to know. Why? 😕

Because she's trying to make plans for that day and she is doing the courteous/responsible thing by making sure you don't need her then. No, she's being the opposite of rude.
