Mom. Says " I just want to be free"
Dad. Says "Free?"
Mom. Says " Free to live the life I want".

At the very least he probably tries to parent her also and stifles her and that’s not the life she is happy with. Some spouses don’t realize the other one grows up and out of them. You either grow together or apart.
