One can be finished with something long before it's complete. I've finished working on things that are far from being completed.

@Neena think of it like a puzzle that's missing a piece. You can put together all pieces you have. At that point the box is empty and you've finished assembling the puzzle as it is, but it's not complete.

🙂 Yes, for me complete is when you have done all your work, finished is what you are when you walk away from a relationship

The example is apt :) Completed seems to have a sense of accomplishment. But Finished seems less formal.
