As someone who is serious 95% of the time, I think when I do attempt a joke, people take it seriously and it backfires. There's also the small problem of me just not being funny. 😩

I am often sarcastic. I have found that sarcasm does not translate well online. Offline, people sometimes don't get my sarcasm either, but those who know me get it.

Online, because people can't see your facial expressions, etc. that's why I use emoji's and lol a lot.

Online especially - even if you precede and follow a joke with **jk** and a wink emoji, nobody will notice it, will think you are serious, and lock you in the stocks while they throw rotten stuff at you.

I have a quick wit with some people, like my best friend. But with others I think my shyness just prevents me from really being humorous.

I can be very similar, serious almost all the time, then when you make a joke people don't realize you are kidding...

Though I've also had problems with people not taking my serious comments seriously...

Yes, all the time. I think it happens more with acquaintances than my friends. Acquaintances think I'm serious all the time, friends know I'm never serious.

Yes, for similar reasons, and the fact that my sense of humor is dry, my delivery rather deadpan and sarcastic. It definitely doesn’t always translate online. 😏

@bijouxbroussard Yes, that describes my sense of humor as well. I also tend to be more humorous with outgoing people who have a great sense of humor. With other serious quiet people we tend to just stare at each other awkwardly.
