I retired at 63. I had plans of retiring at 58 but the company I worked for destroyed my pension in bankruptcy. Then I planned on working to 65 to make up the difference but they let me go two years early.

@iamnikki Here I think you can start withdrawing it at age 59 1/2 without penalty but I'm still working on savings so no need to get into it. Hubs is on SS and I get disability and we don't have a mortgage so our living expenses are less than most people's. We used some of his 401 to build our home which is why we have no mortgage.
