Is Bonhomie a thing of yesteryear?(both)

Back in the day, people seemed much kinder to each other even though they did not have two shillings to rub together
Seeing someone in a ditch even if drunk, they would not walk by and leave them
If neighbours were in trouble, or down on their luck, they would rally round and bring food and look after the children, or clean the house.
These days, many people shun their neighbours.
Walk down the main street late at night and what do you see? Gross behaviour in town centred on Saturday Nights.
People urinating, being sick, and copulating in doorways.
I miss the good old days where Bonhomie was the norm.
Now days it seems that Bonhomie's antonym is more to the fore.
Aloofness and coldness towards one's fellow man abounds.

@BoobooSnafu It is almost impossible for a guy to do that stuff these days. We are seen as potential robbers/rapists. I am very conscience of the furtive glances or looking at the reflection in shop windows I get if I happen to be walking behind a woman.
Many times I stop and let her move way ahead or I even cross the road to ease her mind.
@Gusman SHIT ! really?

That sucks.
But i know what you mean - most of the people i smile at, jusy look back at me weidly.

Bloody sad.
we're living closer and closer togerther, ans yet we've never been more further apart.

@BoobooSnafu I am very attuned to what is going on in society and see this so often. Very sad that many women are fearful in their everyday lives.
@Gusman Hah!
It's not the ones you don't know that a woman needs to fear.!!!
I've never feared walking alone at night.
Ypu just keep your wits about you, and lookeveryone in the eye that comes your way.
I've stopped a few that way, even stuck up a conversation.
The fear comes from much closer to home.

Why else do you think most of them go unreported.?
