Why do people tend to romanticize the past by claiming "things were better" when human nature is literally the same as it was on the day of creation.

I'm not so sure about that . Yes somethings remain the same or close. But even in my time a lot of things have changed . We use to help people without thinking what's in it for me . Money and sex wasn't everything to most we use to work together in a marriage relying on each other now each thinks they need no one . We seem to change our nature to the situation. At least that's my opinion

@Repete So being self-absorbed, self-centered, selfish, and "me oriented" are all modern day conventions? Human nature was not capable of acting that way "in your time?"

No they were capable but the big picture seemed to be more working together because the me attitude got you nowhere but left behind or out in the cold . Nature is for self preservation this hasn't changed much I agree . But that is getting worse because now we think or want we need whatever our neighbors has .
Or because they had to because that’s what people did. @Repete
