@MartinTheFirst the Bible suggests life is a test to see whether we are good enough to get into heaven. So the purpose of life is to get into heaven?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Itsprincess The Bible doesn't suggest things, it tells stories and it does so properly. What it tells us is that due to some controversies between God and the Devil, as well as humans following the Devil's advice, this world has become a place where a battle is held out. Most people do not notice the battle, but us christians do, and it's a battle between good and evil. If you submit to evil, then you shall be wealthy for a short time and then die for eternity. If you stay firm in belief in God and do not submit to evil, then you shall suffer for a short time and then live happily for eternity either in Heaven, or paradise on earth. You, "Itsprincess" most likely belong to the ones who would live for eternity on earth.

Heaven is not a synonym for paradise, it's an actual place where you get a different life and new responsibilities than what a human has, it harbors power. It might be a good life, but not everyone are fit for it. Paradise on earth is what the Bible describes to be filled with happiness and where all evil and pain has been destroyed, like it was in the beginning of times in garden of eden.

If you wonder anything more then just ask, I love talking about it and I will make sure to support everything I say with citations from the Bible upon request. :)

@MartinTheFirst That wasn't for me, I know. But, that is something I don't think I actually realized. Is it an individual choice on choosing Heaven or paradise on earth?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Oh no, it's God's decision. People have been chosen already as far as we know and only a few remain. Remember the 12.000 people that would come from the 12 tribes?
Revelation 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding tight the four winds of the earth, so that no wind could blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the sunrise, having a seal of the living God; and he called with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying: “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the slaves of our God in their foreheads.”

4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, 144,000, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:

5 Out of the tribe of Judah 12,000 sealed;

out of the tribe of Reuʹben 12,000;

out of the tribe of Gad 12,000;

6 out of the tribe of Ashʹer 12,000;

out of the tribe of Naphʹta·li 12,000;

out of the tribe of Ma·nasʹseh 12,000;

7 out of the tribe of Simʹe·on 12,000;

out of the tribe of Leʹvi 12,000;

out of the tribe of Isʹsa·char 12,000;

8 out of the tribe of Zebʹu·lun 12,000;

out of the tribe of Joseph 12,000;

out of the tribe of Benjamin 12,000 sealed.
These are the people who will go to heaven.

And directly after:
revelation 7:9 After this I saw, and look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. 10 And they keep shouting with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation we owe to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.
the people who will be in paradise on earth. Notice:
a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues
So not only is it people from one nation (such as israel), and there's a lot more of these ones than the 144.000 who will go to heaven, since they're uncountable in number. So probably a few billion?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Also, do notice:
“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the slaves of our God in their foreheads.”
This is a very important thing to remember, since Harmageddon is being put on hold since the rest of the 144.000 are yet to be sealed. Once they are, we will see God's big day.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst Wow. I have to think about this. I haven't really thought about it in this way before. I feel foolish, but I didn't really understand the difference between Heaven and paradise on earth or that Armageddon was put on hold.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul It takes time to learn these things, it'll come to you in time. Just continue asking questions :)
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst Thanks, man. You're a true friend to me. Don't worry, I won't bother you more than usual; I'll just ask "some" questions that I get stuck on.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul 'Tis okay
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst thank you! It’s really interesting. I wanna start reading the bible actually but I just don’t even know where to start it’s so big! I guess from the beginning lol.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Itsprincess Not necessarily :) I suggest that you start with asking questions, and then searching for the answer in the Bible. The Bible was never meant to be read from start to finish, it's literally a collection of books, not one single book. ^^

@MartinTheFirst ahh okay thank you :)
