Have you learnt to forgive yourself? (both)

As we move through life, we sometimes hurt those nearest to us. We do not do this with intent. But a frivolous comment, made in the heat of the moment can have us remembering the hurt inflicted on a loved one.
These moments may haunt us till our last days if we have not learnt to forgive ourselves.
The weird thing about human nature is that we readily forgive those who may have wronged us but we beat ourselves up over what we may have said to someone decades ago.
Maybe we do not forgive our sins of the past because in doing so, we actually let go of the past.
For some that may be a scary prospect. What do we have to grasp onto if not our past memories, be they pleasant or unpleasant? Take them away and we are left with an empty shell, full of cracks and frailties.
We may feel like a ship adrift with no mooring post to tether us to
Remember, all our past achievements, all we have done, we done to the best of our abilities, at that time.
A retort? At the time, it was justified.
When we do what we do, many, many times we do not know the ramifications of our actions. But we do them, because at the time, our very essence said that is what was required.
Learn to forgive yourself and move forward to the next great adventure.

I used to be like this in my childhood. A brat.

And every night I used to lie in my bed and write a diary about all the things that disturbed me. And I realized that if I hurt anyone that feeling used to be with me all day. I asked my favorite grandpa during the holidays on how to stop getting these disturbing thoughts. And he said, I have to go back to all those who I've hurt n say sorry. And for what.

Such a tedious task to get into heaven... That was the TP in my life I think... Lol

@Vivaci Not really logical to go back to all those people.
Accept that we are all imperfect, own our actions and forgive yourself.
Good intentions will suffice, me thinks.
@Gusman Exactly... That's why I decided it's better if I just say sorry on the spot.. Which is difficult... Or be a better person and avoid it the first time. Lol

@Vivaci I think we say what we mean, at the time. Filtering or using tact can alleviate us getting into hot water and feeling bad about it down the track.
Pause and think, before speaking your mind. Save yourself and the other some grief.
We are who we are and nothing will change that. Heck, I do not want to change who I am. I am The Gusman and Taz is my persona.
@Gusman And I'm happy to be like that too. Just myself. I've learned to improve myself over the years and still do.

It's a pleasure knowing you Gusman! 🤗💕
