Do you look at the moon and stars each night?

What do you think about?

I do, most every night. Pick out a few easy constellations, watch swift moving clouds slide over the moon or just enjoy the wide open twinkling.

I think about people I love, wonder what they're doing. People I've lost. Wonder if any part of them persists. Think about myself, my choices. Also the usual ruminations on life, the universe and everything.

I wonder which points of light are simply that. The light of a star that died billions of years ago. How many civilizations have come and gone. If another species ever circumvented the bounds of time and space and reside under our noses. How many billions upon billions of galaxies, containing billion upon billions of stars, each, And how many possibilities.

I also ask the other questions. Those I have lost. My choices. So few now. The older we get, the more dead ones we know. A painful truth. Also though, I can see that great and even terrible events are not far from us. I have two grown daughters. I fear for them. I follow the sciences. It does not bode well.

@zhafar I hear you. Things are looking shaky.

I've been studying credible science journals since the mid 80's. We are in the midst of the 5th mass extinction right now. Hippy-dippy fools talk about "saving the Earth". The Earth will be here and rejuvenate. It is we who will be gone, along with the countless thousands of species that we take with us.

I always make a point to gaze out my living room window at night. I love seeing God's handiwork.

On occasion I do that, full moons are awesome because it allows natural light. Then I get worried something will eat me if I stay out any longer😅
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
@SW-User lol you never know. My disabled mother thinks a bear is going to eat me when i'm out walking at night. Probably take a bite spit me back out. Hope he doesn't like Italian

Where I lived I couldn’t see any stars and I always used to imagine how the sky looked liked in real life instead of the photos. I felt jealous and angry. I felt disappointed that I couldn’t see the stars even though I knew they were hiding behind the smog and synthetic light.

When I see real stars I’ll answer this question again.
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
@SW-User There's a lot of ground light pollution here unless I take a drive into the country, but there's still enough visible stars for a show. :)

yes but for a weird reason. It started when I was traumatized by a lightning that struck our house.Since then I look out for stars ever night just to check whether it will rain or not.Good thing is, I was able to overcome the fear
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
@lalelilolu That sounds very frightening. I lived off the gulf of Mexico for a time and the lightning was unbelievable.
Classy · 22-25, F
I always look when they show, sucks living in a city with all the light pollution.

I love astrology because it reminds me how insignificant we are, how small and fragile our world really is. It makes me feel in awe
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
@Classy I feel the same 🙏🏻
I have been remiss in looking at the moon until about 4 days ago. I think of Starrynight when I see Lady Moon. I always do. And then I think about my friends. How we share the same moon in this vast world. And I think about what happened to you, my poetic friend. I wonder where you are and how is your mom and how's life treating you? I don't know why or when you left. I just know that I miss you here. And I wish you all the best, Daniel. You are loved by many here, always. xxx
