I have an undergrad degree in history and I don't think I could lecture on that much! @firefall @firefall

@firefall I had an amazing professor - Professor Woods, he specialized in European history and he was from England and Cambridge Educated. In the two years I went through his classes he lectured consistently and in great detail without ever using notes or an outline. He had the most amazing knowledge of history that I have ever had the good fortune to witness. I had another Professor (Mayer) who was the same way with philosophy- they were both brilliant men. I miss education and discussion for the sake of enjoyment. My post grad work was no fun whatsoever - my undergrad work made me no money whatsoever. I wish there was so middle ground. I always told myself I would practice medicine for money and write for gratification (history). I have never written anything - nothing since school. Sometimes I like to read my own work because my mind used to be so much sharper than it is now ...

@Genieinabottle I know the feeling. My Classics professor (Art Pomeroy) was similarly deeply read & eloquent, it was quite awe-inspiring.

If it's any consolation, I never found anything to do with my history degree either, I've spent 40-odd years in IT, self-educating basically.

@firefall I love how "SQL programming for mssql" fits in that list. But hey, databases can always come useful, even for history-related documenting/dating purposes, I guess. 😌
