Are you a people pleaser?

By pleasing others, people lose themselves. Always be true to yourself and to your personal beliefs. That's what loving yourself is all about. Never allow others to determine your worth.

In life, you will meet a lot of mean, and disrespectful people. If they hurt you, that's because they have personal issues and are not on the same level as you are. Do not take that personally. No need to act on their insensitivity. There's nothing worse than bitterness and vengeance. Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be just like him. [Proverbs 26:4] Walk away, keep your dignity, and always be true to yourself. If you don't, no one else will.

As long as you are true to yourself, you will be happy. If you want the respect of others, respect and love yourself. Do your thing, and never apologize for who you are. To be true to yourself, is the most difficult thing to achieve, but the only way to find contentment in life. However, always be sure to weigh the pros and the cons, in order to find out what is actually right for yourself. Look at problems objectively, from both sides, to be fair. That way, you can make an informed decision as to the right decision, but never short-change yourself, nor take the blame, just to keep peace or please. Always be true to yourself, and always tell yourself the truth.

Tomorrow is my 37th birthday and I fall into that category of losing myself to always please others. My marriage is shaky because my wife took advantage of this for years. I am now in therapy to try to get myself back.
I'm so proud of you for taking steps to remedy this. It's a step in the right direction, definitely. You will do it. Control freaks can be stopped. It is important to take your power back. Of course, you know what I mean. It's not about being a bully. Just standing up for yourself and what you know is right. You deserve that.

It is not a bowl of fun by any means. I struggle daily, and I even wrote a musical piece about it a while ago. Here it is if you want to listen...

@BEHINDxTHExROPES So very true. Been there, done that. It is difficult but well worth the effort. You will gain self-confidence and self esteem. Yes, I would love to hear your song and will listen right away. Writing, for whatever reason, is very therapeutic. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I really appreciate it.
@BEHINDxTHExROPES You are talented. Very pretty. Thank you for sharing. 👍

@LadyGrace Thank you! I have been out of the music scene for many years but in the last year I have been getting back into it. I agree it is very therapeutic. I even went as far as having my bass guitar repaired so I have been dabbling in that again too. It makes me feel good. I have even been offered a spot in two bands recently but I reluctantly declined because my skills are a little rusty.
@BEHINDxTHExROPES I do hope you'll reconsider. There's no better way to get practice and practice makes perfect. Ha ha
