@RileyLandS None of the Marx brothers or their evil namesake Karl were politicians. Karl was a loon that has been taken serious by way too many people. Millions of deaths are the result of his insane ideas of how to get something for nothing.

@Guitarman123 I know all about his theories and I have witnessed the results of his theories. That is why I want nothing to do with his theories. They all result in loss of human life.

They knew that they would have to perfect mankind in order to bring about true communism. Sadly 'perfecting mankind' resulted in mass killings. Your sense of history is completely lacking.

@hippyjoe1955 they used socialist as Lenin recognised it as the first stage towards communism which he also fully knew it would never be established in his lifetime seeing as Russia at that time was a backward agrarian country that was still under a feudal system and hadn't transitioned to capitalism

@Guitarman123 Strange how after 70 years they never got past the first stage. Lots of dead people in their wake but still no progress. Hmmm. Maybe the fact that marxism can never work is the 800 lbs gorilla in the room.

@hippyjoe1955 strange how the ussr manage to change Russia from a backward agrarian country to an industrial powerhouse and had more tanks than the uk and us combined. Strange how the ussr created job stability, free healthcare and education for its citizens. Crime was low so people felt pretty safe and also had a feeling of community and pride in their country

@Guitarman123 Actually if you look at the economy of the USSR the revolution and the mass killing of Ukrainians set back the economy not advanced it. Had the revolution never taken place the economy was on a trajectory to far surpass what the Soviet socialists ever achieved. So tell me why did the USSR fail? And why since its failure has Russia passed the USA in international influence?

@hippyjoe1955 true, the economy wasn't great and food resources weren't completely reliable and could take years to order a car. Pre the ussr Russian citizens were under a cruel dictatorship of Nicholas tsar and suffered mass unemployment and illiteracy. Ussr citizens had money but not a lot of resources to spend the money on. Post ussr resources became more readily available but people had less money

@Guitarman123 Not really. The revolution put the people back a long ways economically and socially and it killed millions. I guess that is the only way to achieve equality is to kill everyone. Everyone is equally dead.

@Guitarman123 The Holodomor took place long before WWII Google it. A family member survived it. She was 9 years old when it started. She was the only one in her family that was brave enough to steal some grain from the government ganries near her village. She would sneak out at night and fill a bowl with grain. She knew that if she were seen out at night she would be shot by the Soviet soldiers that manned the streets. She was too hungry to care. The next spring her family was the only one still alive. Everyone else in the village had starved to death. But you see the Soviets were perfecting mankind to bring about equality.

@hippyjoe1955 they were already backwards and undeveloped country under a feudal system. Lenin overthrew that and because he knew communism wasn't gonna happen he instead set up state capitalism. Also improved women's rights, decrimalised homosexuality and abortion. Also improved the literacy rate dramatically

@hippyjoe1955 Lenin and trotsky were Both recognised as highly intelligent people. Trotsky in particular played a massive part in the red army defeating the white army during the Russian civil war

@Guitarman123 Smart people can be idiots when they hold their theory as being superior to reality. Funny little thing. I have family that escaped during the Russian revolution. They made their way to Canada. They went back shortly before the Soviet Union collapsed. They were shocked at how poorly the family that stayed in the Soviet Union had fared. Some were starved, some were sent to Siberia, none of them had gained . They worked on the land that their grandfather had owned and they had nothing to show for all their labours. They worked when they had to because there was no incentive to work harder. They got paid for their labours but the pay was not enough that they could travel out side the Soviet Union. They were thrilled at their bumper crop which the family from Canada would have written off as a near crop failure. The ones in the USSR were shocked to learn that the Soviet Union had been importing massive amounts of Canadian grains. Isn't it strange how your misguided desire for some sort of ill defined equality only results in equal poverty for the masses?

@hippyjoe1955 yet theirs citizens of Russia who miss the days of the ussr as theirs a big gap between the rich and the poor. Crime rates are high and people are less friendly

@Guitarman123 Too funny. Do you honestly think that socialism ever reduced the poverty rate? Seriously? Funny observation. I was living in a province under a socialist government. The ugliest most poverty stricken district in the province was the district that the premier represented. Just north of that riding is a district made up of Christians that fled the USSR; They have never voted socialist.
