@hippyjoe1955 no, Marxism isn't a failure per se, and it's not about idolizing Karl Marx.

@hippyjoe1955 many people have been raised out of poverty by China and the soviets. Most people don't want to live under an economic ruling class - but they do. So they failed to make communism the law - because of fascists and capitalists.

@Roundandroundwego You have no sense of history at all do you. Goggle the Holodomor and tell me about all those people raised out of poverty. Goggle the Cultural revolution and get back to me about the people lifted out of poverty. One thing Marxism has never done is alleviate poverty. Increase poverty yes lessen it no.

@hippyjoe1955 we're in a capitalist system today and the inequality we have is what it is.
Some people don't think we can have a more democratic world with less inequality because they're watching the US.

@Roundandroundwego Yeah we are not in a free enterprise system as Adam Smith envisioned and worked so well. We have state interference. Kind of like the Marxists in the USSR and Communist China suffered from.

@hippyjoe1955 we still have a right to participate in a democracy. We always need the voters, the masses to control the means of production or we don't have democracy.

@Roundandroundwego Democracy doesn't exist in either marxism or capitalism. Have you ever been in a worker owned factory? I have. It isn't any different than any other factory. The workers work and the overseers over see. If not nothing gets done. A friend of mine went to the Soviet Union to visit family. He was amazed at how inefficient they were because there was no need to work. They pretend to work because the bosses pretend to pay them.

@hippyjoe1955 that's crazy. Communism is democracy controlling and owning the economy. Yes lies rule and yes America can kill for lies. It's always doing it - WMDs, the war on communism... you are what you are, it is what it is.

@Roundandroundwego Not its not. Communism is all about the elite ruling the working class. Poverty isn't eliminated it is shared. A buddy went to Cuba. He was shocked at the food he got. There were always potatoes, Sometimes there were eggs but not often. Sometimes there was chicken but not often. Sometimes there was fresh bread but rarely.

@hippyjoe1955 sorry, but if you're against an elite running things, we wouldn't disagree. Democracy and human rights are already guaranteed by laws, national and international. Capitalist pigs defy them.

@Roundandroundwego The elite are much more control in a communist country than a free enterprise country. Communism and fascism are kissing cousins and exactly opposite to classic liberalism.
