Idk, the evidence we have on this indicates that people are a lot less likely to rob and murder you if they're given material well-being. Therefore, it is in my best interests to make sure everyone receives some measure of material well-being.

@Munumbis Not what I'm saying. If someone has resources as a kid and into adulthood, they're less likely to become a thief to begin with. Risking your free life for resources is generally only worthwhile if you have a shit life to begin with and a major need for resources.

If someone's already in your house stealing your shit, you have my full and loving permission to blow their head off with a shotgun.

In my country (and yours too) the "migrant population" is statistically less likely to rob, torture or murder me than than members of the population that was born here. So you could call it an instinct for self-preservation. But was that the question you really wanted to ask?
