Liberals, what are your thoughts and feelings about Nelson Mandela - "convicted felon"?

Appendix** Diversions will be deleted at my discretion. Answer the question or make your own post. What are your THOUGHTS and FEELINGS toward the late Nelson Mandela?

I greatly admire him.

When I went to South Africa, I visited his home in Soweto and also traveled to Robben Island, where he spent 18 of his 27 years in prison.

Mandela spent 27 years in prison for opposing South Africa’s apartheid system. He faced harsh conditions meant to break his resolve, but he refused to give up his efforts to achieve equality for all people.

Despite the terrible personal cost of imprisonment, Mandela continued to act as a leader and mobilized his fellow political prisoners. After he was released, Mandela helped negotiate an end to apartheid and became the first democratically elected president of South Africa.
@RoguishEyes Oh I certainly get the point, and it’s a pretty ridiculous one. Normally I wouldn’t waste my time on a post like this but ya got me, I couldn’t resist. Plus it was nice recalling my trip to South Africa so I do thank you for that. Enjoy the rest of your day. 🙂

@OlderSometimesWiser Atleast you got the point
@RoguishEyes
So being a "convicted felon" is not necessarily a bad thing.

No, not when it’s a bogus charge/s and bogus trials and jury. 👍

Mandela was fighting against a repressive political system.

Trump fought against not being held accountable.
@nonsensiclesnail The "easy target". 🤣

I'm not sure. Did he ever rape someone?
@LillyOLilly Pretty sure he did. Most political figures do.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that the bit at the end Appendix is there in case people express hate towards a certain Orange convict that may or may not have inspired this question?

Mandela was innocent - he didn’t get a civil conviction - nor was he writing of hush money as a business expense to a porn star. Mandela was released because South Africa was a apartheid political state - much like the convicts in North Korea or Russia held under dubious laws - if rule of law is broken it becomes apparent by how neighbours and international authorities view it. The country itself would not be an objective source of scrutiny

I look forward to a debate around this - as it relates to your question. If you feel it’s worth debating please do so! If you feel the urge to delete my reply - I’m sure it will be screenshotted by a few people! Maybe the ratio of deleted replies will outnumber the few that made the censorship ministry’s laws 🙂

If not, I am equally happy for my reply to join the sea of other replies you choose to delete - (thin-skin/ snowflake topic) I guess free speech is only for the replies that didn’t challenge the covfefe man? ❄
@GoldenOldie There is no debate to "win". I told you that I disliked Trump. There is no argument.

@GoldenOldie You made a comment 5 minutes ago that I assume was to me but you tagged the wrong person. You are all shook up. You'd better get some sleep.

He's proof that governments aren't infallible and that history is written by the winners

He also served prison time 😒
Kypro · 51-55, M
He was convicted of an unjust law denying equality and freedom. Trump paid porn stars and cooked the books.
@Kypro Mandela didn't break unjust laws? Then why did he spend 27 years in prison?
Kypro · 51-55, M
@RoguishEyes read again
@Kypro Who didn't break unjust laws? This post has nothing to do with anybody but Nelson Mandela, convicted felon.

Nelson Mandela was a convicted felon for fighting for racial equality. Nothing like any current political figure in today's society. Money and ignorance fuel the corrupt, not injustice and equality.
@Bang5luts "A rose by any other name..."
Bang5luts · M
@RoguishEyes agreed. Still better than a criminal by every other name.
Wireman · 31-35, M
I wonder why he did not take the offer by John Voster to be released from jail just by denouncing violence. Did he prefer violence?

@RoguishEyes I do not believe you ever intended your question to ignore the obvious or you would NOT have added the "diversion" ban which was an obvious attempt to draw people into thinking of another, more currently relevant "convicted felon" -- but if being disingenuous makes you happy, fine. Frankly, I don't know enough about Mandela as a person to have any opinion beyond the pretty superficial info I picked up over the years from the media: he seems admirable.
@ChipmunkErnie A convicted felon seems "admirable". Got it. Thank you. That's all I wanted to know.

And FYI, I added the appendix after liberals started making irrelevant manifestos.
