Taking them isn't the issue, refusing to give them back and misuse is.

@Gloomy
So he has to snap to without time to plead his case? Bidumb had his in five different places, you people seem to think that is fine.
@MarthannBann888 So indict both of them?

@Gloomy

Seriously .... it's ILLEGAL to have classified papers in an unsecure space regardless of who that person is.

@pdockal true. I don’t like Trump at all… because he back peddles everything he says. However I do agree, that if the Rep go down for this then so should democrats. It also sounds like he was obtaining evidence…which makes me angry that he had to. Dems are making a power play … Trump is a tyrant, but I don’t even have a name for what our current congress should be called. They do not represent their constituents. They represent lobbyists.

@Mindful

I'm NOT for Trump but I'm also NOT for the democrats and for that matter the Republicans. Congress is morally corrupt. What's good for one side should also be good for the other side. However both sides spin everything to suit their narrative but most people are to blind to see anything. The believe what their party tells them. I won't.

After 9-11 we were told the air was ok to breath and now we're finding out it was deadly. If they lied about that what else are they lying about?

@pdockal exactly, ethics in the upper class has practically vanished
@Mindful Trump was indicted by a grand jury, not by "Democrats."

It sounds like you at least admit what he did was illegal. It's a separate issue if other people who you think did the same thing are also indicted. If Biden broke the law, then he should be indicted too. But if your defense is that Trump should get a pass because you think other people aren't being charged for the same thing, that's BS. You remind me of the guy the cops pull over for speeding, who complains because other people were also speeding and weren't pulled over. Each prosecution is separate.

@LeopoldBloom wrong is wrong. But politicians don’t play that way.
@Mindful And Trump is proof of that. I'm not sure what this indictment has to do with "politicians" in general, however. Gym Jordan isn't investigating Jared Kushner, does that bother you?
Mindful · 56-60, F
@LeopoldBloom I follow the law. How does that sit with you? I get the feeling you’re trying to poke at me. I’m just commenting that there is a dishonest illegal political system, and politicians both love and hate Trump whether they are democrats or Republicans, President or citizens, the law is the law. But the guilty are not treated equally.
@Mindful I agree that our system is dishonest, but how is it illegal? In a polarized system like the one we have, each side is eager to hold the other side accountable.

No one both loves and hates Trump. He may be the most divisive figure in the modern era.

And you are correct, the guilty are not treated equally. However, the solution isn't to let celebrities get away with crimes because other people get away with them. Trump has managed to avoid real consequences his entire life, and has gotten away with things that you or I would have been imprisoned for. And even now he's getting away with his worst crimes. The stuff in New York, Georgia, and Florida are just the tip of the iceberg.

@LeopoldBloom may you voice be heard fat and wide
@Mindful
I do agree, that if the Rep go down for this then so should democrats.
Let's be 100% clear here.

Trump is NOT being charged with possession of secret documents. No, not at all. Trump IS being charged with refusing to give them back to NARA, their rightful owner, when asked multiple times. And Trump IS being charged with obstructing justice in the process of his refusal.

See, that clarifies the difference between Trump on the one hand, and Pence & Biden on the other. Pence & Biden immediately returned the secret documents they had. Trump had Walt Nauta shift some boxes out of the storeroom to a different room, then had Attorney Corocan search the storeroom and report no secret documents.

See the difference? Pence & Biden complied with the requests from NARA, while Trump lied and hid the documents.
