I feel for transgender people

I truly do. If intersex can happen, then transgender can happen. Hell some intersex people ( I am not one of them) may even consider themselves intersex and transgender. Some may transition later in life after truly having a sex assigned to them at birth and that does not feel correct perhaps they lived as a girl and feel more like a boy for example. Medical transition processes though are truly brutal and carries a lot of complications. It’s not a glamorous process. I mean can you imagine all the pain it puts the body through and the mental torture? Gender dysphoria is truly no joke. I feel like it would be better if research could go into discovering more about gender dysphoria and how to help those afflicted with it but either there isn’t enough funding for medical/scientific research or people don’t want to go into the crosshairs of political controversy if findings do not line up with a politically correct narrative. Like maybe taking a pill to alleviate symptoms of gender dysphoria vs medical transition. Intersex is about the body and biological physiology and anatomy. Transgender is about the psychological and mental gender identity being at odds with anatomy and physiology.i think personally gender is related to sexuality and how we communicate it. Some people would argue gender has nothing to do with sexuality but I disagree. I think gender identity, gender expression, and sexuality are interconnected. For example a male with feminine sexuality may feminize their appearance to attract a more masculine man. Or a female with masculine sexuality may masculinize their appearance to find a more feminine woman. All with a hormonal and neurological basis.

This is called homosexual transsexualism. Or what we used to call sexual inverts ( no longer politically correct) but to me this theory makes perfect sense. It’s not always the case but sometimes it is. I wish more research would be done into these phenomena.

There is actually alot of research already. It just takes some effort to find it and an open mind. For example there is some recent neuroscience research that suggests the brains of transgender people physically function more closely to that of someone of their preferred gender. So short of a brain transplant this is not something that can be treated away.

Also homosexuality, transgender people, intersected people all being treated as disordered in the past was based on social norms, not science which is why this has changed.

We also know from science going back decades at this point that even the idea of biological sex is basically an average used to make data analysis easier but no fixed hard binary actually exists. This is true of everything from hormones to chromosomes.

I don't think treating people who are different as broken helps anyone.

And I think your connection between gender and sex is flawed.

Answer this. At what age did you decide to be female to attract a male?

Also there is no universal concept of gender either.

Talk to someone who is First Nations. You will learn very quickly that alot of what is treated as "male" and "female" behaviour and social norms were introduced through colonialism.

Their own cultures have much blurrier lines.

I mean shit going as far back as the 1200s we have Sagas of Norse gender fluid gods.

I think we could make alot of progress just from stopping trying to force people into two Victorian era boxes.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow well I am an intersex female truly but yes the research does show brain structures more closely resembling the opposite sex than their birth sex. And I have heard of two spirit people in Native American cultures. And truthfully other cultures recognizing up to five or six genders like Talmudic and rabbinic Judaism. Third and fourth genders like the hijras in South Asia, muxes in Mexico, kathoey in Thailand etc. as to your question well personally I am pansexual but I didn’t consciously choose to be female to attract a male but I just feel instinctually. Anyway thanks for your thought out answer.

Also I didn’t say treating anyone as broken is ok but treating it as another variation of human diversity but instead of rough medical transition being able to find another solution so their mental health doesn’t suffer and avoiding the need to go through such costly surgeries. I still think gender and sexuality are linked based on my research and just my observations in everyday life that I have done but you can think I’m wrong that’s your right.
@midnightmagic It is interesting that you don't see the contradiction that your own gender identity was not based on a choice based on sex yet you seem to think everyone else operates on different rules based on outside observations alone.

And you assume all transgender people opt for surgery. Some do but some don't. I know some people personally.

And the so called cost of surgery is not about problem of treatment. It is about a system particularly in the US where healthcare has been replaced with a for profit money making industry where healthcare happens as a byproduct.

That has already been solved by every other developed nation on earth.

Really though you're born male or female. Anything else is something gone wrong. It's that simple.
