We always been around. But it has gotten more acceptable with time as science now understand us better. And with that the world as whole start understand us better and Trans people become more open about who we are as we now are understood more and not just seen as weirdos or mentaly ill.
Being Transgender is not a mental illness. And people are learning this more and more.
With acceptance and respect comes more people being more open.
We don't need be as afraid of being ourselfs as we had to in the past.
