Why are there so many transphobic bigots on here?

Honestly this site is a pretty good representation of what I think a lot of people are like, just with a higher concentration of introverted weirdos.

Transphobia is a popular mainstream belief. It's vile, but this is the #1 social controversy in our society right now. There's lots of transphobes everywhere.

@CountScrofula It's not "transphobic" to disagree with transgender activists and their worldview on sex/gender. People are permitted to disagree with that, and can still show tolerance and respect to transgender people.

@SumKindaMunster I don't quite get what disagreeing even means here. There isn't one unified opinion on sex and gender there are various political camps united by common cause who wildly disagree internally all the time.

I have disagreed with many trans people on activism and worldview, but I have never been called a transphobe.

This is because the ultimate question is about policy, not about the tactics of activists or abstract theory of gender. Red herring.

The question is what is to be done about trans people. Now if we disagree on that, I may start calling someone a transphobe.

@CountScrofula The disagreement goes to the transgender worldview that sex/gender is on a spectrum and can be fluid and ever changing.

Not everyone agrees.

There's nothing that needs to be "done" for trans people. Let them live their lives with their choices, but also respect that others have made different choices and beliefs.

@SumKindaMunster Sure, but that's not what's playing out in society right now.

There's no social force to just leave trans people alone and disagree. There's a fight going on about stuff that matters.

How do schools deal with the fact trans people exist? Should the state mandate what bathrooms someone uses? Can you legally change your gender on your birth certificate? Can a business refuse to serve, or hire someone who is transgender? How about trans prisoners?

These social debates and the laws that they produce intensely matter right now.

@CountScrofula And yet transgender activists are pushing to cancel JK Rowling because she won't submit, and allowing biological males to destroy women's sports.

Priorities. 🙄

Homosexuals didn't spend their time calling everyone "breeders" and demanding that everyone celebrate gay sex, rather, they pushed that they were just like everyone else, save that one thing, and they deserved the same privileges and treatment in marriage as heterosexuals under the law. Surprise surprise, they got what they wanted.

This keeps up, and I believe it will, transgenderism will be like abortion and gun control...highly different regulations and codes depending on whether or not the state leans blue or red.

I don't think that's a win, do you?
