I Support Lgbt Rights

It's quite worrying (and funny in a way) that those who claim there are only two genders don't even know what the word means.

"Gender" does not refer to male and female, those are sexes. There are more than two of those as well. Dr Anne Fausto-Sterling has identified 5 discrete sexes and believes there may be more. A Google search with "fausto sterling 5 sexes" (omitting the quotes), will provide plenty of reading material for those who wish to learn more.

[c=#7700B2]it is hard to keep up with all definitions of words ever since this politically correct movement came about.. but in all honesty when you look up all these genders now, some are just plain stupid like for example two spirit gender... to me it seems like people just make up new genders to feel unique these days..

and I support lgbtq rights btw, better point that out before I get accused of otherwise[/c]

@PlumBerries: In an equal society where everyone had the same rights regardless of their sex or sexuality, the term "gender" would be redundant. A person's sex is only relevant in some areas of medicine and even there the presentation overrides what's written on their birth certificate.

[c=#7700B2]I don't want to ever offend anyone and it is what annoys me since people cant say anything anymore with out someone claiming they are offended. its so stupid the world we live in today.. I'm all for accepting people as they are and think its great they are living how they want but yeah it just annoys me that they think everyone has to automatically have full knowledge about what they say they are and if you say something different, you are the worst person in the world...

like pronouns.. I'm not referring to anyone as it, because I feel that is rude.. I'm not referring to one person as "them" because them is plural. I just hate that word definitions have to be changed so that some don't get offended [/c]

@PlumBerries: We need a singular, gender neutral, pronoun like "it" to use when refering to living creatures. Language evolves so it's really just a matter of time before a commonly accepted one arises.

[c=#7700B2]I don't even refer to animals as "it", I'm not going to do it to humans either.. I just think people should stop trying to change everything, stop putting labels on ourselves and stop being so sensitive to everything[/c]

@PlumBerries: A gender neutral pronoun would be useful in cases where we don't know the sex of a person (or animal). It would avoid using "he/she" or "him/her". Traditionally the masculine pronoun has been used as the neuter but, in modern usage, especially in IT, the feminine is often used instead.

@PlumBerries: Two spirits is not a new term at all, it is a traditional native term for being gay.

[c=#7700B2]so it is being gay, yet has its own name and goes under as a different gender? Being gay is in sexuality right? My question is why is it considered a gender?[/c]
