I Want To Start A Worldwide Support For Lgbt

I suppose we are lucky in Europe. We are very old democracies and accept these things. Lgbt can be who they are. Not just amongst young people. But old people also seem to be very accepting. It was there when they were young but not spoken of.
The younger democracies like America seem less willing to accept people who are different. But even there there are different levels of maturity. The cover of this week’s Economist made me laugh!

I suspect it has less to do with 'democracies' and more that in culture people who have experienced more in result often accept more.

I think you are right. My grandmother is far more accepting than my mother. It was not called lgbt when she was young but it was there. And society has just relabelled a very old thing. @SW-User

@Hepsie To me, those democracies will be reflective of their cultural values and learning. It doesn't mean youth, in each respective culture, don't result in further change. Some will likely disagree with me, and they can, as this is just a thought ~ cultures who have gone through more conflict are more open to seeing life's value.

In one way I agree. Democracies build a cultural value that is difficult to change. But also a well established democracy is a safe place within which to test new ideas! Like gay marriage, being bisexual and being a transgirl or a transboy. And whether those labels even matter. Personally I don’t think so. A person is a person. Most are kind and tolerant. A few are not. @SW-User

@Hepsie We don't really disagree, then. Yes a democracy, in how they are structured, can help value those things. I was more speaking in terms of how the democracy ultimately reflects the culture it represents.

And there is the ultimate dilemma. Does the culture reflect the values or the values reflect the culture. It is so complex! And so interesting! @SW-User

@Hepsie I suspect both! Which brings me back to the older the society the more time they've had together to discuss this! :)

And reach the conclusion that there is no answer. Society must adapt and move on @SW-User

@Hepsie A memo is a message Lili. It's a sheet of paper where someone expresses something in message.
Hepsie · 22-25, F
Ok. Thank you. Short for memorandum. @SW-User

@Hepsie Yep :)

I just read all we wrote. A university essay! But thank you. It’s talking like that that makes my opinions valid. Because I listened to others. Thank you! @SW-User
