My sister doesn’t agree with transgender identities

She calls people by their names that they choose for themselves but she will not refer to a male as a she or a female as a he because unlike intersex conditions, she thinks being transgender is a mental illness and does not want to feed the delusion. I say I call people whatever they want to be called for names pronouns and forms of address. I think it does no harm to show basic courtesy. I adhere to biological facts too but to me womanhood and manhood is more than just about biology. I agree with sex: male, female, and intersex. But I also think of man or woman as a social and cultural role as well. I accept third and fourth genders: two-spirit, Hijra/aravani, kathoey, muxes and others. Identities of being not man not woman but both or neither androgynous . The only one that I don’t get is genderfluid which is changing gender identity on a constant basis which confuses me but even that has maybe some basis in hormonal variations. I think non binary or gender nuetral makes sense. But having categories like genderqueer, genderfluid, agender when it means something similar to me seems a waste of time. Too many options now. I would put male, female, intersex, transgender, non binary/gender nuetral/inter gender as a fifth option but no more. Options. Than flour or five for documentation for legal documentation. And medical I still think it’s important to have someone biological sex in addition to their legal and social gender because medical complications can arise like there was a case when a big man came into the hospital and biologically was a female and gave birth and no one thought to. Give him help sooner in the. Emergency room. I think that man died or suffered health complications.: it’s a fine line. I acknowledge biological sex but will use gender neutral terms like folks, and everybody to not alienate anyone and will call someone he, she, singular they for non binary people. I’m an intersex woman and I assume a female identity. ( I am mostly female anyway) everyone calls. Me a lady and daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, etc. I look and sound female . I think instinctively. Everyone just assumes I’m female. And when they find I’m a hermaphrodite they still refer to me as she and her instinctively. My sister tells me not to compare my intersex condition that is I suppose rather rare to someone who is transgender.. they are not the same but I don’t think a person who is a genuine gender dysphoric. Transsexual. Chooses to be that way. I think instead of. Intersex of the body. It’s like a form of brain restricted intersex and in female to male. The baby.girl gets too much testosterone.causing.male gender identity and the baby boy gets too little. Causing female gender identity. There have been some studies shown that look at transsexual brains. The FtM brain scans looked more like generalized Male brains and the MtF looked more like generalized female brains. So we can conclude there is a hormonal and. Neurological basis for transsexualism. It is a serious.condition which the treatment for it is social and medical transition ( it’s pretty barbaric. I won’t lie). Many cases are seen from the time a child is cross sex identified from two to three years old. Being intersex or. Transgender is not easy. But intersex is still largely unknown and not in the spotlight as much as transgender is. Even though there were intersex people on Oprah Winfrey show in the early 2000s I think and abc news channel I interviewed Eden Atwood an intersex woman and there was a movie that came out about an intersex girl and there are some public figures that came out as intersex. So awareness in public consciousness is gaining momentum. But how could my sister having an intersex woman ( hermaphrodite) for a sister not accept transgenderism? She should know better how things can become anomalies in the womb. My sister is moderately. Conservative. What can I say I can’t change her mind as much as I have tried. What can I do? She has a transgender. Coworker who is non passing transgender woman and my sister just calls. Her by her name. Instead of using the pronouns she and her. I know it is hard to see a 6 foot male with five o clock shadow. And a deep voice as a woman but I mean it doesn’t hurt to be polite. The only time I would absolutely refuse to refer to someones gender pronouns is if they were a rapist or something. Anyway that’s my two sense.
