@Sharon - Man, woman, male, female, sex and gender are words; nothing more. What someone means by them is not for anyone else to decide.

It happens all the time and lack of understanding is rife - sometimes deliberate just for the sake of arguing. People talk past each other and ignore the fact that they're meaning different things by the same or similar words.
Real communication happens when you're curious about what the other really means, rather than trying to tell them.
if eveyone just made up their own, unique, definition of words, communication would be impossible.
