19th century era pictures of gay couples.

Gay men were persecuted with public hangings due to the public notion that it was "chosen" rather than born. However, laws were selectively applied and so gay men were somewhat safe unless they were fully "out" meaning they had to be discrete. Here are several photographs of 19th century gay lovers, they're ever so adorable, it's really too bad they existed at a time where you "maybe" could get hung depending on if some bigot was having a bad day ❤️

I'm really interested in the dynamics of how each one was in the relationship, back before we had well known gay culture. Unless you were in the position to be a part of the gay balls you would be making it up as you went along

@Jackaloftheazuresand I would love to know the dynamics as well. I get curious about these things. Most of them seem really happy but I think these people just likely existed and nothing else. There were hangings for them but it's my understanding that the laws were kind of up in the air on that in which it happened but not for the majority as long as they were hidden. At least that's what the article said, because many believed it was a choice and not that you were born that way.

Which of course is silly but I would have liked to know some of these people.
