When did you come out of the closet

For me, since I was 5 I longed to be a girl. I told my parents when I turned 8 and they started to help me transition.

That's wonderful- that you had the courage so young, and the trust, to confide in them, and that your parents embraced you as their daughter and helped you to be who you really were (and are).

I am a parent, and had the surprise with our oldest, when she came out as a lesbian as a grown woman. We just made it clear we loved her, unconditionally.
