Why are the folks here so darn homophobic?

Because they’re bigots.

I have to disagree with this.
@Pfuzylogic I know you do. But when we’re speaking of consenting adults, and neither have made a prior commitment to anyone else, it’s no one’s business but theirs.

When it is on TV and Hallmark gets intimidated by LGBTQ to broadcast shows that isn’t include in their corporate mission instead of making their own channel then it has come out of the bedroom.
@Pfuzylogic That reminds me of when tv stations didn’t want to reflect interracial families, too. People said they shouldn’t have to, and advertisers still receive hate mail when they do. But we exist, just like LGBTQ couples and families do. Even if people would rather things were otherwise. So on that level I can relate. 😔

I don’t consider racial and sexual orientation to be similar movements.
There has been an impoverishment of brown and black people that pisses me off. As far as sexual orientation I see the LGBTQ as a very empowered organization that invades churches and beats up smaller corporations.
I do not see the common ideology.
As a matter of fact many churches stand up and identify with heterosexuality.
@Pfuzylogic Incidentally, in the South, many churches refused to marry interracial couples, too. The reason black churches exist is because blacks were routinely excluded from white churches. This fact does not ignore the people of faith who were abolitionists, or those who founded schools to educate freed black slaves. But not all churches were on the right side of history then, nor are they now.

You are still conflating the two.
There are many black churches that do not accept the homosexual orientation.
@Pfuzylogic Yes, I know. They’re bigoted, too. And it’s ironic, since we should know better.

@bijouxbroussard
They are not bigoted.
You are assigning that to them.
Have you ever confronted one with your beliefs?
@Pfuzylogic Yes, they are and I certainly have told them so. And actually, so have my parents, who are religious. My mother once told someone who quoted Leviticus to her when she played the piano for a gay vocalist:
“Keep reading, and when you’re at the church crab feed in a polyester dress, ask yourself why that’s okay ?” 😳

I avoid using the term bigot.
If that is another term in addition to homophobe, I consider it sad. It is just as closed minded.
@Pfuzylogic Bigots and homophobes are closed minded.

@Wildflowerr And that’s one of the many reasons I’m no longer a Christian. I’ve known people who’ve committed suicide because they thought they were “cursed” by being gay, and were harshly judged by so-called “Christians”. Pfuzy doesn’t proselytize or quote scripture to me, because he knows I’m not religious. The bible does not persuade me any more than the Torah, Koran or Book of Mormon would. And I’m always curious when a woman comes at me: do you submit to your husband ? Do you hold your tongue when men are speaking ? That’s part of the teachings, too. 😒

People that assign labels with beliefs different than theirs are at least as closed minded.
@Wildflowerr That’s not a God I could ever worship. That is the definition of evil, right there. And only a truly cruel person would say that God would allow gay teens to suicide as a way of removing evil.
Please don’t speak to me again.
