Why are the folks here so darn homophobic?

“Homophobe” is a slur for heterosexuals.
Just like “fag” is for gays.
@Pfuzylogic No, it doesn’t apply to all heterosexuals, just the ones who are intolerant against gays. People who use the slurs against gays apply it to all of them, for being gay.

I have a gag/nausea reflex when I see two guys kiss on tv. Where would you put that on the homophobic scale?
@Pfuzylogic It registers. But it’s definitely not on the level of wanting to beat or kill them, imprison them, or stop them from being able to live their lives.
A poster on EP said that he had that reaction whenever he saw a black man kissing a white woman. I was tempted to send him a picture of my parents holding hands when they celebrated their 60th anniversary back then.
And yes, I considered him a bigot. 🙁

That doesn’t touch on the Post though.
I insist that heterosexuals should be able to have their normal reactions without being slurred with the term homophobic, an indoctrination term weaponized by LGBTQ.
@Pfuzylogic And I’ve been told it’s “normal” for people to be disgusted by interracial couples, and I have no right to assume anyone who feels that way is a racist. As long as they don’t plan to hurt anyone. I kid you not.

@bijouxbroussard
I find it being two totally separate issues.
I am not racist nor do I have any challenge for interracial couples.
I do not appreciate same sexual behavior forced on me through Hallmark or tv commercials. It is not my type of affection. Behind the doors, it is none of my business. In public, I get concerned about what children see.
@Pfuzylogic Same argument. Google “white genocide”. People feel the same way, for basically the same reasons. They consider it “unnatural” and think it’s some kind of plot.
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
I do not equivocate racial and sexual orientation as similar movements.
@Pfuzylogic I know you don’t. But bigots treat people they disapprove of the same way, and have historically used the same justifications.

@bijouxbroussard
The LGBTQ has been violent and aggressive in approach and have forced a war type situation with their confrontation. I will stand up for heterosexuality whether I am called a bigot or not.
@Pfuzylogic Again, google “white genocide”. These people claim to be standing up for the white race, whether they’re called “racist” or not.
There are parallels.

Please don’t assume to assign me and put yourself in an instructive position.
Friends are equal not prescriptive.
@Pfuzylogic I’m not assuming anything, I don’t expect you to change your mind. But it’s something I feel very strongly about and I imagine I always will. 😞
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
We both feel just as strongly and I have respected you by not proselytizing my Christianity.
@Pfuzylogic And I’ve respected you by not bringing up religion. But if I made a statement about Christianity that you believed to be incorrect, you would say so, even as you disagreed with my assessment of homophobes as “bigots”.

@bijouxbroussard
Homophobe is a malleable term that can change and that is why I oppose the term bigot automatically assigned. Many people think some behaviors I consider normal to be homophobic like my nausea reaction to two guys kissing. It doesn’t make me a bigot and I find the young ones Ill practiced in using the term homophobe. It is a dangerous division and I don’t think children should have to witness homosexual behavior in public.
@Pfuzylogic Yeah, I understood what you were saying before. And I repeat, some people feel that way about interracial relationships. You have no idea the things people have said to me during my lifetime. Bottom line is, gay couples are raising children of their own. They can legally marry. So they are demanding their rights because they can now. I’m not gay, but I have friends I love dearly who are. And where they are excluded, you will not find me.
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
I don’t like the redefinition of marriage.
That could have been accomplished in a more sophisticated way then changing what has been from the beginning.
@Pfuzylogic Separate but equal has never proven to be equal—another lesson learned because of past racial and ethnic discrimination. And we didn’t change that much, it still involves just two people. That’s not even universal.
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
As I said, just because the law considers them “married” it is just a legal term and what I consider and abuse of human tradition. It was done to give partners legal rights to pensions etc... I think it should have been handled differently.

LGBTQ does not define marriage although that is what they have essentially done through the courts.
@Pfuzylogic I know plenty of married couples whose marriage is no different than anyone else’s. We should table this discussion, it really can’t go anywhere without our friendship deteriorating. 🥺
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
I hope you respect my personal boundaries. You came on my response so if you felt violated by the fact I don’t honor that people of the same sex can’t be married than that will be our difference. I didn’t impose on you but I will share what I believe without feeling intimidated by anyone. Our friendship is always a choice from both of us. 😇
@Pfuzylogic I’m heterosexual and I’m not a homophobe—but I know people who I believe are. So it’s not something that refers to all heterosexuals. It may be conveniently overused, like “racist” sometimes is, but it’s not comparable to calling someone a “f*g”.

@Pfuzylogic homophobe isn't a slur for heterosexual.

I'm heterosexual but have many gay friends who would never call me a homophobe since they know I'm not.

Homophobe is a term used to describe those unaccepting of lgbtq people & lifestyle choices.

@SW-User @bijouxbroussard
I have seen it used here in some pathetically sad contexts that it didn’t belong in. I am sure some people have a way of using it without offending but I will state this. If you find me a homophobe because I get seriously nauseous when two men kiss them so be it. As I have stated before the definition of the slur changes and as soon as it becomes deweaponized I will accept it but for now I have NEVER seen the term homophobe used except in a context of attack and putdown. Use with caution.
