Why should we give aid to African and Middle Eastern countries when they persecute LGBT people?

Here's the thing though. Many of the authoritarian regimes came to power with western influence and the west wasn't always so tolerant. See Oscar Wilde and Alan Turing.

@basilfawlty89 Indeed. My point is that LGBT people in Western societies should petition their governments to stop supporting these regimes and keeping these societies afloat.

@Einstok I wholly agree with not aiding the regime but see no issue with charitable organizations.
