Conversion therapy is not practiced by legitimate therapists. It is essentially banned by Counseling and Therapy standards. The only ones that do it are fringe non licensed types.

@Einstok True, but insurance does not recognize this as legit and do not pay for it. So they can not bill.

@Trenchycoat a lot of therapy is not covered or fully covered by insurance.

@ladycae yes that is true, but most therapist work for an agency so we practice only methods that are billable. However the strongest deterrent is that conversation therapy is considered unethical by most of not all licensing boards and could result in having one's license pulled.

@Trenchycoat they don't call them therapies, they call them camps. i have brochures on my desk from several right now a "caring" friend send to me. in the trash, they go. they are basically inpatient therapy centers hiding as youth camps.
