Amway & World Wide Dream Builders, what have you heard?
I've been offered a position amongst their ranks, referred to them by a friend whom I trust. And even though it looks like a scam or pyramid scheme, he swears up and down they're not. It does sound good, its not a get rich quick scheme as they say, they say it does require hard work and dedication and can take years to achieve anything. For the most part the fellowship pays for itself except the initial costs to get started however there are things that worry me. They say they're in the business of helping people right? But yet they dont seem all that forthcoming to my situation, to help get me started that is. Maybe its too early, maybe I'm asking too much? I don't know. From what I've been told it is very doable albeit difficult and requiring dedication, but it does feel like they're pushing a bit too hard to get the ball rolling.
One of their favorite lines they like to sell you goes something like this: "I'm not here to convince you, if you have to be convinced you're probably not a good fit. I'm here to introduce to you a better way to make money."
I find that contradictory. Based on how their system works, they need as many people as they can get. The more people you have in what they call your "downline" the more money you make. When they make sales, recruit more people and accrue point values from Amway they make money which in turn makes you money. I feel like there is at least a little convincing involved. For example, convincing someone as skeptical as me that this is a legit, sure fire way of making money. Convince me this isn't a scam or pyramid scheme like everyone says it is. Convince me that this company is all about family and helping people as they claim to be. I asked questions like this to my sponsor or my upline. He seemed almost insulted. Said he wasn't willing to answer any more questions until later on, I guess until I was a part of the organization.
Needless to say, red flags popping up like daisies. I still remain skeptical and I'm going to keep my distance as far as I can for as long as I can until my questions start getting answered and they start showing their true selves. Because if this is truly legit, if it is truly everything they say it is, it's an opportunity I can't miss. But I am not so foolish as to drink the koolaid and immerse myself. I'll keep a healthy curiosity for now and study them.
