Why do cops make you sit in their front seat occasionally when they run your plates?

Lol. Reminds me of a girl i knew in high school. She could drive 25 over the speed limit but when pulled over she would cry. Being she was a well developed blonde teen, she would only get a warning delivered in a kind tone. Best i ever got for 15 over was having it knocked down to 10 over so i stayed in a lower category only because i was polite.
