Is it a serious offense if someone was chocking and people do nothing?

I almost chocked on my food and I coughed so hard and nobody even tried to help me. I was fighting for my life but luckily the piece of food came out right away. Man people don’t care. My dad was right. People only care about themselves. Even my older siblings (adults) are right. I wouldn’t listen at all and ignored everything they said to me.
Damn people are selfish and mean.
