Canadian Attorney General Announces Citizens Do Not Have “The Absolute Right to Own Private Property”

Trudeau’s Justice Minister and Canadian Attorney General David Lametti announced this week that Canadians do not have an “absolute right to own private property.”

This is what Communism looks like.

Is this going to come as a surprise to Canadian citizens?

While answering questions on the seizures of russian purchased property.
You also havent exclusive property rights in the us.
Mineral rights.
Eminent domain
Seizures for suspected illegal activity (suspected)

@Carla @Carla It appears that you are being contrary for the sake of being contrary.

Are you not in favor of private property rights?
Or, are you simply wanting to rock the boat?

@MarmeeMarch you have to be suspected of being a bad person.

Mineral rights include oil.
If i decide to dig for oil on my property, and if I found it, I would have no rights to it.

And it's my property, what if i dont want to sell it on the cheap to the govt? Too bad, right?

So here too, there is "absolute right" in owning property.

@Budwick of course i am in favor of property rights. Ive owned property for most of my life.
But as you are complaining about russian owned property being seized, the same can and does happen here.
Wrong or right, it is.

I am in favor of sanctioned russians losing their property here and everywhere in the world.

@MarmeeMarch
But i can drill for water on any property i own.
And yes, no property has mineral rights unless they are grandfathered. Im not going to not invest because of it.

So basically this post has zero value.
Im out.

@MarmeeMarch most people thrown in camps were american citizens.
My mother and her family worked for a Japanese family in oregon that were citizens. Put in camps and bankrupted. So no.
Sanctioned russians are not canadian citizens.
And i have no animosity towards the average russian. Just those involved in, cheering for, ignoring and defending putin and his abhorrent war on Ukraine.

@MarmeeMarch one more.
Oil is included in mineral rights. But it is not a mineral.

@Carla
you are complaining about russian owned property being seized,

I never mentioned Russian owned property.
The guy is from Canada talking Canadians lack of rights to private property.

@Carla I never mentioned Russian owned property.

Apparently he did.

@Budwick he was responding to an inquiry.
He said nothing of canadian citizens. He said "people".
The conversation lametti was in, was pertaining to russians.
Context is everything bud.
But hey, how can you rile the cult without leaving out context, right?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla What people do you suppose he was talking about when he said people don't have an absolute right to own property in Canada?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick i beleive at this moment he was referring to russian nationals. I suppose if you read between the lines, which i dont like to do, you could deduce that he meant any individual coming into property through illegal activities.
Or if you are a whacko conspiracy theorist, you could deduce that he meant the govt could arbitrarily seize private property for the benefit of...what? The evil communist, canadian left?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla Carla - it seems on this one I really did take a lot out of context and focused on the the words that people don't have an absolute right to own property in Canada?

If he meant Russian property it seems reasonable that he could have been more clear.

I award this one to you.
Congratulations.
