Creepsters are wandering the hallways of our apartment building around 2 a.m.

One of my neighbors on the same floor where I live, heard a noise at 2 a.m., got out of bed, and saw the handle of her front door being jiggled and tried. She is going to buy a Ring doorstop, (which I've never heard of before), and has reported the incident to the management office.

None of the people I've spoken to about has any confidence that the office will do any thing to follow up, or even view the security tapes.

Do you keep a personal weapon on you?
4meAndyou · F
@Nitedoc Nope. I do have a very scary 13" chef's knife that I use to cut watermelons and anything huge...but my attack cat has passed away now. 😉
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou The knife is better than nothing. I'm guessing you have no training in knife fighting. A small 4oz. can of pepper spray (cone of fogger burst) is a much more effective weapon. Inexpensive, non-lethal and very effective at stopping an attacker.
Poor kitty!

@Nitedoc Yes, I miss his little kitty ways. And I always used to joke that if someone broke into my apartment, I would throw my attack cat at him...🤣🤣🤣 Pepper spray is considered a weapon in Massachusetts, and is only legal to use against an animal attack or in self defense. However, we can't have pepper spray sent directly through the mail.

@4meAndyou I really am sorry about your kitty. I have a little Bichon that I dearly love. You said pepper spray is legal to use in self defense. Well there you go. That's what it's for. If it's legal to use for self defense then it's legal to possess there I would think. It should be available in several types of stores there. If a gun store or outdoor sporting goods store doesn't have it they can probably tell you where to get it. If the store has bear spray get that. It's just stronger pepper spray. The higher the capsaicin percentage in it the longer it will incapacitate someone.

@Nitedoc I will check Dick's sporting goods. They aren't too far away.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou Good. They should have it. Don't bother with those very small keychain type cans. You may have to find one at a police supply store. I'm sure there's some of those in Mass. Punch II is the best. It's what I gave to all my students when I was teaching them proper use of pepper spray in one of my short term self defense courses.

@4meAndyou If you can't find the pepper spray let me know and I'll see what I can do.
4meAndyou · F
@Nitedoc Okay, but in Massachusetts, it's not legal to receive it by mail.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou You mean by mail even within the state is illegal? I've never heard of that in Mass.
4meAndyou · F
@Nitedoc I checked the law. I know Mace is not allowed. You can buy pepper spray, but not by mail.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou You can buy pepper spray in any store that also sells firearms. There are several stores where you are that sell it.
4meAndyou · F
@Nitedoc Thank you!
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou No problem.

@4meAndyou I'll bet NH has it
