We can solve problems of mass shootings and school shootings! Just implementing some smart ideas!

There were 632 mass shootings in the USA 2023, There was 1 in UK.

1. A wait period and background check before every gun purchase.
2. Guns sold at police stations only.
3. Age 21, like the drinking age.
4. A physical exam
5. Abolish assault weapons.

Makes sense to me.
@CrystalSkull thanks for BA.

@CrystalSkull Think through it. Let us say a man walks into my shop with a pistol, and wants to buy another pistol. Why should he have a waiting period, except to increase his expense of the transaction? If he wanted to hurt someone he would have done it with the gun on his hip.

Now lets say a woman comes in because her ex boyfriend is a big guy and stalking her. A waiting period prevents her from having much needed protection, and woman have died because of these laws.

@IronHamster We need to to have long wait periods because people are impulsive and when they are angry they are more likely to do something they regret! I would never suggest a woman gets a gun to protect her. Move away from an abusive guy and get a restraining order. We have to make sure people are not mentally ill, or have criminal histories who own guns so a wait period and a good background check and a note from a doctor or psychiatrist is necessary! ANd we need to ban assault weapons!

@Carazaa your argument makes no sense
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Carazaa What is an "assault weapon"?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Carazaa So you think women need to give up their jobs and sleep on the couches of far away friends whenever they break up with an abusive person. Right?!
@IronHamster Regardless of that reasoning and examples, the whole world is aware that America has a gun violence problem. Seems to me that stricter legislation isn’t a bad suggestion from Carazaa. I really don’t understand why people get so irate about this issue. As a foreigner could you explain?
@Carazaa also to make sure someone who buys a gun isn’t an alcoholic or drug addict. I know that is legislation on my country.
@IronHamster isn’t an assault weapon an automatic or semi automatic ?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull No. An assault weapon must specifically have a full automatic function using an intermediate round. By redefining it as a "semi-auto" you invalidate your argument.
@IronHamster I wasn’t aware I was arguing, was merely asking a question.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull In the US, you cannot buy a gun if you are a user or addicted to quite a list of drugs. I think the list goes too far as it includes Marijuana which is not typically connected with violence.

In my state, carrying a gun vs alcohol has similar laws to driving. I can concealed carry in a bar, but drinking is treated like having an open container while driving.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull In this case, "argument" would have to do with your debate position.
@IronHamster I get it. Do you have to have a permit on your person at all times if you’re carrying a weapon?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull The more safe states have Constitutional Carry. You don't need a permit. Most states require a permit to carry concealed. As a standard rule, the more restrictions on good people, the more crime there is. Red state armed America is safer than Belgium.
@IronHamster ok but you do have an inordinate amount of public shootouts. That’s crazy. For example, A family member of mine is working in the States, she was in Florida and is now in New York State. She is terrified of getting lost or turning around in someone’s driveway( something that happens often here) lest she gets shot. Now coming from one of the crime capitals in the world, that’s saying something. Something doesn’t sit right with that does it? What is constitutional carry?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull As I say, "Red state armed America." If you are in an area liberals live and vote, invariably your crime rate is higher. My old stomping ground was a liberal city. In 2013 they got a huge boost when Detroit made a critical error. Detroit was faced with a financial crisis, and they cut the murder budget causing the murder rate to fall by over 50%. I was up there with the kids a whole holiday weekend and we never got to see a single murder, although it was pretty cool when our porter, Jamaal, took a 22 slug in the gut. Obama associate Rahm Emanuel became mayor of Chicago the following year and doubled down to attract perveyors of the murder tourism industry. It worked. Later, Lorie Lightfoot working with BLM was able to double the murder rate in Chicago.
@IronHamster that’s a lot to unpack. Why was it cool when your porter was shot? You say your liberal city got a huge boost, what does that mean a boost for what? What is the murder budget?
“ doubled down to attract perveyors of the murder tourism industry.” Please explain, I am a little lost as to what you’re saying.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull I like to poke fun at this shit, but the bottom line is there is a small part of the US population responsible for a large number of murders. Blacks represent 13% of the population and commit 60% of the murders, but it is males aged 14 to 35 which results in 3% of the population committing 60% of the murders. Let me note, that some people will say 50% of the murders but that only counts solved murders, so it helps to be a bit Asian with your math skills to see that 50% undershoots the likely percentage by wide margin.

But, yes, BLM supports in Chicago increased the number of murders in Chicago from 1 per 20 hours to 1 per 10 hours. Given the Freddie Gray incident they knew they could kill more black people by eliminating police interference, so they did it with glee just to watch black people die.
@IronHamster So what you’re saying is because crime is out of control?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@CrystalSkull Crime is high because liberals want it high. In red state areas people have better manners.
@IronHamster who are these liberals you’re talking about and why would they want higher crime? How does someone’s manners apply to gun legislations?
@IronHamster no
Not at all
The democrats are the good one
The Republicans refuse to pass gun reform
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@rocknroll The reason Democrats want gun control is because they like to do things they should be shot for.
@IronHamster democrats are the good ones
Ill never ever vote republican
