Why do pro-Gunists still defend guns despite all the mass shootings and school shootings?

There was another shooting in a Chesapeake Walmart a week ago over a dispute.

Because there are more than 100 million owners of firearms in the US who want to be able to defend themselves if the unthinkable should happen, exercised their constitutional right and are not a threat to society.
@BizSuitStacy If only it really was unthinkable. It's not although it still seems like a minority who want to overthrow the government by force and let everyone fend for themselves.
@MistyCee By unthinkable, I'm talking about someone kicking in your door in the middle of the night. But you lefties have been well conditioned to always assume it's an overthrow of the gov't. Thanks for your comment.
@BizSuitStacy I'm not sure what planet you l live on, but the Gestapo knocking on my door is not something I can't think about, as much as something I don't want to think about.

And quite frankly, there are, imo, elements on both the "left" and the "right" who profit from reminding folks it has happened in the past in other places and might happen again here.

Sure, I'm more worried about Trumpist neo-nazi thugs than I am about communist Stalinists knocking at my door, and maybe I'm an idiotic soft leftie for thinking I should be able to call the police and expect help, but at the end of the day, I'd rather not live in a world where might makes right and institutions like police and fire departments are seen as socialist infringements on individual rights to rape, murder and steal.

Hyperbole aside, I really wish we could compromise, and not arm ourselves to the teeth, hoping to shoot a burglar and put his scalp on the wall.

Lol. Its been a long day. Don't take my foolishness personally.
@MistyCee I'm just being practical. There are 1.1 million home invasions in the US annually per the FBI. You're far more likely to have your door kicked in by addicts or thugs looking for money than your mythical fascist boogie man. But keep clutching your pearls.

So...your backdoor gets kicked in at 3 am. There's likely to be 2-3 intruders. They are probably armed. You've got less than a minute before they engage you. This is a real life scenario. What are you going to do?

@BizSuitStacy Agreed👌
@BizSuitStacy I get your point, but do you have a source for this?

@BizSuitStacy ok, I'm impressed with the site, but how in the heck did the FBI get paid to track home invasions?

It doesnt seem like an interstate crime.
@MistyCee Since when was the FBI's scope of collecting crime statistics limited to those that occur interstate? They track murder, assault, rape, larceny, arson, etc. A better question is why does the CDC track firearms homicides? And why are their annual firearm homicide stats always 25-40% higher than the FBI's?
