Suspect in custody after deadly mass shooting at LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs

A 22-year-old gunman opened fire in a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, killing five people and leaving more than two dozen injured before he was subdued by "heroic" patrons and arrested by police who were on the scene within minutes, authorities said Sunday.

The violence is the sixth mass killing this month and comes in a year when the nation was shaken by the deaths of 21 in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

This is terrible that someone can have access to a gun and just walk into a place and open fire and do so much damage. The motive isn’t clear but it’s speculated that the club was targeted because it’s a LGBTQ2s+ nightclub.

My thoughts go out to all the people that lost loved ones last night.

What are your thoughts?

@fortycreek You are correct

That's why they want to move the US to the new "score system" (I can't remember what it's called) so they don't have to do away with the Constitution, they can just restrict your purchases. Therefore it's the "banks" restricting the purchase of firearms and or ammunition, not the government, and therefore no changes to the Constitution will be necessary.

@calicuz what do you think of that?

@iamonfire696

I don't like it for the most part, not because of guns, but I believe in the long run they'll use it to gain ultimate control over us. We do and think exactly as Big Brother tells us to, or we don't eat.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@calicuz I get that but America is not a free country as the republicans would want everyone to believe it is. They are taking away everyone’s rights.

It’s really sad.

I generally cite Israel as an example of safe gun ownership.

that is true, "they" pick away at the Constitution on a regular basis.

@calicuz They do from what I can see as an outside viewer

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Israel has mental health examinations of gun owners on a regular basis and they have to spend time on a gun range as well.. but you do not have to go that far to find some over regulation of firearms.. take a look at Canada..

@pdqsailor1 our regulations would suck for you, but they work just fine here as we are kinda anti mass murder we value or children and citizens

Does this apply to all enlisted?
All the guys from my family, have been in the army, so has my cousin (a woman), but I think her duties were more administrative.

@fortycreek I am a licensed Canadian gun owner.. both non-restricted and restricted... Everything was fine till Trudeau did his last idiocy for no value or good purpose and he will pay dearly for it come the next election... When a liberal comes to my door asking for support I will simply show them my RPAL.. it won't be any kind of conversation..
fortycreek · M
@pdqsailor1 i stand corrected, i own guns myself, was only suggesting that the laws in Canada seem to work better than our neighbors
@pdqsailor1 You really think he will pay? The guy is crazy, cruel and protected. The perfect tyrant.
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON There are about 3.5 million licensed firearms owners in Canada PLUS their families.. all adults and all now motivated to vote Conservative.. That is ten percent of the Canadian population and a significant number of voters.. He can not be re-elected without a portion of those votes and he won't be getting ANY of them.. @fortycreek I am a holder of an RPAL.. up until the hand gun freeze was announced I had NO intention of ever getting a handgun but when he did this idiocy (does nothing to keep illegal guns from getting into the country) He set into motion a situation for me ... I was not happy with .. I am licensed - passed the course but now it was a case of do it now or never... so despite my view that handguns are not as accurate and the restrictions in use are onerous.. I purchased one.. my hand was forced by the legislation.. The huge revelation to me were the RCMP.. who could NOT have been nicer, more friendly, respectful -and particularly could not have been more helpful.. despite being put under an enormous strain for the extra work this impending legislation put them to... If you ask if I am a fan of the RCMP - I am.. For everything except the latest legislation I have no issue with the laws in Canada.. This legislation treats RPAL holders as scape goats and I look forward to a conservative government and repeal of this unfair idiocy..
