Carazaa The oldest hatred in the world is anti semitism. There was plenty of it in the USA prior to WWII.. Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford and Joseph Kennedy were famous anti semites.. Joseph Kennedy had a son who became President and his one surviving child, Caroline - Joseph's granddaughter - is long term Married to a Jewish man Edwin... Karma? The USA has the second largest concentration of Jews in the world (six million vs about seven million in Israel and two million everywhere else combined) because right up to the election of Trump there was no history of murdering Jews because they were Jews. Jews have fled most other places in the world to emigrate to Israel because of a dramatic increase in anti semitic incidents world wide... It may start being the case in the USA if this trend continues and Jewish contributions to US society have been and continue to be highly significant.. An exodus of Jews from the USA to Israel WILL begin if this new lethal activity continues to accellerate.. and the cost to US society of such an exodus would be a problem. For those who wonder why Israel exists.. this is why Israel exists.. ONE place in this world where Jews can live and defend themselves effectively. The mission statement for Israel are the words "never again"... There used to be another place of refuge without the need for self defence - the USA... Now we are no longer certain that this is still the case.
But that is far from the whole story.. I live in Canada. As part of work I was doing I had to acquire a license for firearms.. it was decided for me that instead of just taking the course for non-restricted firearms (not handguns) that I was to take the restricted firearms license as well (handguns)... My score was perfect on my written tests and nearly perfect on my practical examination... Then after my results of the course were submitted and acknowledged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - RCMP, I filed out a license application and had to wait for over six months for it to be processed and my references (including my Wife) questioned and examined.. and the license then just arrived in the mail. Here we have laws that require storage of firearms to be in a vault, disabled and unloaded.. The reason the laws are structured this way is to prevent unauthorized use and to also prevent and preclude anyone who IS licensed from using that firearm for self defence.. There are two and only two uses for a firearm in Canada for civilians... Target practice on a range and hunting and for a hand gun it can only be used for target practice and may NOT be used for hunting.. A carry permit exposed or concealed for a handgun is virtually impossible to obtain in Canada. The only reason I have a hand gun is that the law just changed here - I had no intention of ever getting one as I viewed them as inferior to a rifle in terms of accuracy and their use was so limited that it made very little sense.. The new law would have precluded me from ever getting one despite my license allowing me to do so.. It was a case of now or never so I purchased one and I have one. To legally buy ammunition in Canada a license is required. This is how Gun control laws are in Canada... Oh ... High capacity magazines are prohibited in Canada.. Criminal activity with firearms is entirely related to illegally smuggled guns and ammunition and it is skyrocketing as there is a profit to be made selling smuggled guns on the street to criminals... There is a shooting incident almost every single day in Toronto.. However what has not taken place here are mass shooting incidents - those are primarily related to the easy availability of high capacity magazines and AR styled rifles in the USA that were designed to kill large numbers of people efficiently and have no value as target or hunting firearms.. Most suicides in the USA are by firearms.. The easy unregulated availability of guns in the USA, the absence of safety courses and mandatory licensing, the time frame to acquire a fire arm in the USA , the legal framework that permits carrying of fire arms and self defence as a legally permitted action... are ALL responsible for the numbers of mass shootings in the USA..
Hatred invoked against the LBTGQ community is not new either... the Pace nightclub Shootings in Florida were about six years ago.. Similar nutcases who felt free to go after Jews since the election of Trump are also going after member of the LBTGQ community.. Not only are they not socially free, they have no place of refuge... So unfortunately fear, evil and hatred is something I am quite familiar with.. My family had dozens murdered for no other reason than evil hatred. The USA then refused to open its doors to provide Jews with refuge... and now with lax laws coinciding with the easy availability of firearms designed to kill vast numbers of people.. what is being questioned is if it still sufficiently the place of refuge it has been since WWII...
The late Robin Williams when he was interviewed by a German talk show host was asked "Mr. Williams, why do you think there is not so much comedy in Germany?" His answer: "Do you think it is because you killed all the funny people?" The talk show host did not understand his answer.. When he told this as a joke .. there was a pause in the audience, then a gasp then a roar.. I mean how outrageous but....
