It is always a combination of factors that contribute to these types of killings. And it is important to understand these factors to be able to prevent similar violence. But there is one factor.that is common--they had ready access to weapons designed to kill large numbers of people quickly and efficiently. That is one aspect that we can and should address, even though only one political party agrees.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@windinhishair @windinhishair but all shooters had a gun.
It's important to pretend it's a combination of things, not the fact that there was a gun.

@Changeisgonnacome The fact remains that mass killings can be reduced if access to mass killing weapons is reduced.
Baremine · 70-79, C
Why is it that mass shootings always happen when socialist/democrats are in charge.

@ElwoodBlues what about the mass killings in France, Germany and England where mass killings used cars and trucks. Evil will always find a way.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@Baremine and public transportation also would save you a lot of injury and death. Conservatives want cars and guns, and it's no coincidence.
ElwoodBlues · M
@Baremine The RATE of mass killings in those nations with rational gun control is FAR FAR lower than in the US. Gun control works.
The fact that there are people commenting with glee here over dead children is astounding. They should all turn their guns on themselves.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
That's right, because nobody but tyrants would want you to put away the guns. Because guns are the last line of defense a vulnerable citizenry have in deterring maniacal despots within power/rogue governments.
Free people don't put away guns because we know criminals will always find a way to obtain a gun or a dangerous weapon to carry out their nefarious misdeeds/crimes.
And the one sure fact which remains obvious to all of us who can still use logic and critical thinking is: the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun.

@therighttothink50 other democracies have disarmed themselves and are better off for it.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Only in a Leftist delusional fantasy world are they better off for it. There are an exponential amount of more home invasions, because the criminals have nothing to fear from the homeowners.
And those places aren't democracies, their socialist hell holes whose sole existence relies upon the umbrella of US military security. There is no individual liberty, just a leftist authoritarian police state.@Changeisgonnacome

Lets put away the democrats and watch the mass shootings disappear.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@TexChik Dear God, you are an absolute ghoul and sociopath. This happens nowhere else in the Western World and frankly most of the world period. Kids don't have to go through active shooter drills in: Japan, Canada, England, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, S. Korea and on and on and on.

Frequency of mass shootings in the US has been increasing, although the pandemic put a damper on them:
This map of US mass shootings is 10 years out of date, but it gives us some sense of how wide the problem is and what weapons are used
US mass shootings in 2019.

@ElwoodBlues The frequency of mass shootings has increased since this map was prepared.

@windinhishair Thanks, I updated the post with a new bar graph
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues This is why there is so much attention now and recently.

Guess monkey pox wasn't working
ElwoodBlues · M
@MarineBob Has somebody been feeding you lies that the MSM is trying to whip up a panic about monkey pox? Here's what CNN said about monkey pox:
Hmm. Maybe you were misled about MSM & monkey pox??
Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House Covid-19 response coordinator, told ABC he wouldn't be surprised if the US saw "a few more" cases of monkeypox in the coming days.
"But I feel like this is a virus we understand, we have vaccines against it, we have treatments against it, and it's spread very differently than SARS-CoV-2" -- the virus that causes Covid-19, Jha told ABC's Martha Raddatz on Sunday.
"It's not as contagious as Covid. So I am confident we're going to be able to keep our arms around it," Jha said. "But we'll track it very closely and use the tools we have to make sure we can continue to prevent further spread and take care of the people who get infected."

Again?!
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic always. We have that many guns.
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
@Changeisgonnacome good god, it was a joke that school kids should go there with kevlar vests but now it's less and less of a joke
Zonuss · 41-45, M
If you take away guns, people will use bombs.
Lets be sensible please about this issue.
There is a much deeper problem going on.
