Yelling white surpremacy is counter-intuitive. I disagree with it.

But Trumps recent stunt to blame the video game industry is plain stupid.
@Lucia it is dumb, to me theres a lot of things going on that can be to blamed for this hate culture.

@winchesterbros I don't have much of an opinion on Trump in general. I disagree with a lot of his politics, but I live in another country and he's not my president.

But blaming the video game industry is stupid because it has been investigated by scientists countless times, and been found to have no connection. If anything it is an outlet for aggression. If that last bit is true, then limiting them will create for more violence - and a bigger demand for gun control, which I'm sure is not on the republican agenda.

It's like he's pulling out a gun, taking a second to aim - and then shoots his own foot on this one.
@Lucia i know. back in the 90's they blamed power rangers and wrestling for kid violence. theres always something that people want to put the blame on.

@winchesterbros Ah yea I remember the Power Rangers. Everytime I saw that I wanted to go kick some alien-monsters ass. I was 9 or so.

Edit: Alien = extra terrestrial.
@Lucia lol

video games is most popular go to scapegoat these days; blaming it on the actual problems like bad parenting and poor morals just doesn't sound as good on tv and might "offend" someone... 🙄
Lucia · 36-40, T
@wildbill83 I know. I lose respect for people every single time they abstain from talking about the real backgrounds for their decissions.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Lucia some political counter arguments sound so similar and well rehearsed, I'm inclined to think they're reciting it out of a manifesto/book... perhaps the white house library has a book called "convenient scapegoats for aspiring politicians" or something...
Lucia · 36-40, T
@wildbill83 I just don't understand it. I mean. I'd accept it as a rational argument if someone came out and said "Ok. So we have 10.000 deaths related to owning guns per year. This business generates XX amount of revenue, and it also makes up for an important part of american freedom, so we will rather make the trade-off". But for some reason you can't do that. And it bothers me a lot. Because it jus reminds me of how stupid people are.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Lucia there are no such rational arguments, especially when gun control-advocates try to use statistics; they always conveniently leave out/ignore non-firearm violent crimes so as to make it appear that firearms are the constant in every crime...

God forbid you get into an argument with a Brit about guns and mention something factual, like how more people get raped, beaten, and stabbed in Europe than shot in the US...
Lucia · 36-40, T
@wildbill83 Yes. Europe has its problems. But not to the extent the US does in this ballpark. Rape statistics are, as far as I know, higher in the US than in most european countries including the UK. But those are hardly comparible because it's highly cultural when you will perceive something as rape - and when you'd be willing to report it.

Being beaten up etc may be in the same ballpark - but it's not a solid point. Because if I could chose to be shot or beaten, I know where my choice would be.

Most, if not all, valid science point to guns increasing the severity of crimes related to personal harm. It's even occassionally a problem in schools that kids get shot. So I don't see where you're going with it.

I don't care what the US choose to do. But as long as the choice is lying and ignoring factual circumstances, nothing will ever be solved. Regardless of who does the lying.
@Lucia i agree guns add to the violence. but theres more death in the US by car accidents. what are we going to do about auto safety? abortions kill many many more. many many more in the US die from drugs, what can we do about drugs?
