You know how, on true crime shows

They say "The hot dog vendor noticed a green plastic bag in the trash can, and when he opened it, there was a decapitated head..."

Who TF sees a random bag inside a trash can and decides, You know what, I think I'll open that and have a looksie.??? 🤢

A very good point—I sure wouldn’t either, but my cousin once told me when she was putting trash in the can behind our grandfather’s shop, when we were kids, she saw a bag already in there with something that looked like a doll…turned out to be a baby. Fortunately, whoever had left it had just gone, so the child’s life was able to be saved.

@bijouxbroussard Wow! That’s simultaneously horrifying and miraculous.

Then again...

I nearly puked my lunch once in Austin, on a 105+ day, this guy walks to the trash can, fishes out a bottle with a bit of liquid left, downed it and was tapping the empty bottle to make sure there was nothing left.
It happens more often than you would think.....

Especially in "affluent" areas where businesses have dumpsters out back and are "known" to throw out food at the end of the business day.

Yes, generally I'm not opening up plastic bags inside trash cans, unless I'm somehow looking for a nasty surprise.

@JimboSaturn Reminds me of…

I sure hope no one does that in the dumpster where I live!

You also know there’s about to be trouble when you hear something like:

- A farmer was walking around his property…
- Two hunters…
- A fisherman noticed…
- A group of cyclists saw plastic bags…
Good question. I mean are people expecting to find a massive sum of money, or a magic lamp?

@chrisCA I was homeless and never rummaged through trash.

@DearAmbellina2113 Many homeless are mentally ill, or suffer from addiction.
They are not going to care.
