I live in the land of serial killers. Ted Bundy, Robert Lee Yates, Gary Ridgeway, Kenneth Bianchi to Name a few. As for a close by crazy crime way back years ago when I lived in Tacoma My neighbor apparently abducted a prostitute shortly after his Divorce and had her tied up in his basement for a few days. The other neighbor on his other side called the police because he heard screaming and yelling.

@NativePortlander1970 The thing that suckered me into joining was A field day at Fort Lewis. They came to our high school. Had a film they showed and loaded us with propaganda. Then took us to the base. Got to ride around in an M113 and An M1 tank. Watched an artillery barrage. Watched a live fire exercise with tanks and Bradley armored vehicles. Machine guns. Mortars
Some even went for a ride in a Chinook but I wasn't in that group. Must have signed up 100 of us that day. I'd made up my mind by the first shot from an M1 tank. Oh and fed us MREs
