Just A Warning About Using Debit Or Credit Cards At Gas Pumps…And Other Places…

Thieves have figured out how to hack your cards while you are pumping gas and they don’t even need to use a skimmer to do it. Probably someone standing at a nearby pump using their phone to steal your information. A man in my neighborhood posted on the Nextdoor site that it happened to him at a Walmart gas station near where I live. He used his debit card and when he got home he checked his bank account and someone had stolen his card number and used it 6 times already.

Someone in May hacked my Humana insurance card and got their eyes checked and had a pair of eyeglasses made at a local discount eye place here. I called up Humana after they sent me a statement of how much they paid and told them it wasn’t me that did it. I had visited a hospital the day before and was waiting to be seen and I believe I got my card information hacked by someone nearby using cell phone to do it. I have also been told by an Aldi employee that someone got into her checking account while she was working, she thought it was the Aldi system which is supposed to be secure that had a data leak. I told her how easy it was to hack cards using a phone, probably someone who was a customer did it while she was checking the groceries out for them. It’d be good to use an RDIF wallet with your cards inside while in a store or medical waiting area or whatever these days. I pay with cash as much as possible when I can. Or order stuff online with a card and go for pickup these days.
