So if passing laws doesn't prevent people from committing crimes, let's get rid of all of them.

Passing new laws doesn't stop people from committing murder, so let's get rid of the laws against murder.

Passing new laws doesn't stop people from diddling little kids, so let's get rid of those laws, too.

Passing new laws doesn't stop people from driving drunk, so let's get rid of those.

And if all of that sounds batshit crazy, then I would submit that all you gun nuts should reconsider your arguments.

I think the dominant right wing gun culture is the biggest problem and maybe that should be regulated. Here in Canada we have lots of guns, and can legally own a few weapons that are illegal in most states like .50 BMG anti material rifles. Heck even black powder artillery is legal here with a basic non restricted license.

My dad spent 4 years in Colorado Springs (posted at Cheyenne Mountain) and he said it was the first place he lived where people are scared of their neighbours and where people think solving arguments with bullets is acceptable behavior.

Even our "gun nuts" if you suggested solving a disagreement with a gun they would slowly back away and call in a mental health check on the person in question.
