The Capitol police in Washington DC monitor the security cameras at the Pelosi compound in San Francisco. 3000 miles away. Not exactly convenient logistically, but given the Speaker is 3rd in line, it's understandable why they have a responsibility to do it. And yet they weren't watching the night of the attack. And apparently there was no security personnel on the premises. Can you imagine the secret service not being present and not monitoring the White House because the president wasn't there at the time? Neither can I.
