I am so glad I was born in Australia

Thailand court has sentenced a man to 50 years imprisonment for insulting the monarchy on Facebook.
Thailand is protected by one of the most strictly enforced lèse majesté laws in the world. (illegal to defame, insult, or threaten the monarch of Thailand (king, queen, heir-apparent, heir-presumptive, or regent).
For many years, criticism of the king, queen, crown prince, and more recently, former kings, members of the royal family have been strictly prohibited.
I find it so wrong that Rulers can can have such onerous control over the population.
