The 4-month-old girl, who was born four months prematurely, was nearing discharge from Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in April when her mother found several bruises on her daughter's body, the media outlet report.
"A full skeletal survey" found multiple fractures, including broken leg bones, along with bruising to the child's hands, arms, thigh, buttocks, abdomen, and tongue, per the outlet. Court documents said the findings supported a diagnosis of pediatric physical abuse, according to the report.
Records show Ansley entered the infant's room about 30 times during an overnight shift, WOOD reported.
Citing court records, the outlet noted that other hospital workers told investigators Ansley appeared flustered and frustrated.
The outlet reported that Corewell Health, which operates the hospital, said Ansley is no longer employed there. The health system said it took immediate action upon learning of the accusation and has cooperated with the police investigation.
Ansley is free on bond with an electronic tether, WOOD reported. His defense lawyer, Damian Nunzio, reportedly said his client is a good person with years of intensive-care experience.
